Celebrating Women in the Shooting Community

Writer: Jess SmithJess Smith

On International Women’s Day (8th March 2025), we celebrated the incredible women who contribute to the world of shooting. At Carter Outdoor Pursuits, we firmly believe that shooting is an inclusive sport, welcoming enthusiasts from all walks of life. More and more women are becoming involved in shooting, both recreationally and professionally, and their contributions are shaping the future of the sport.

Historically, shooting has been viewed as a male-dominated activity, but times are changing. Women are embracing the sport in increasing numbers, excelling as competitive shooters, gamekeepers, instructors, and event organisers. Their presence is helping to diversify the shooting industry and challenge outdated stereotypes.

Shooting is a sport that values precision, patience, and respect for the countryside—qualities that are not defined by gender. More women are discovering that shooting offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors, refine their skills, and become part of a passionate and welcoming community.

At Carter Outdoor Pursuits, we actively encourage female participation in shooting by fostering an environment that prioritises inclusivity and respect. We work with estates that welcome shooters of all backgrounds and experience levels, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a first-class shooting experience.

Beyond being a thrilling sport, shooting also plays an important role in conservation. Ethical game shooting contributes to wildlife management and helps maintain balanced ecosystems. Many women in the shooting community are also passionate advocates for conservation, working alongside estates to ensure responsible and sustainable practices.

If you're looking for an inclusive and welcoming shooting experience, we’d love to have you join us. Whether you're a seasoned shot or just starting out, our team is here to provide expert guidance and an unforgettable day in the field.
